Conversations by ATIKA x Safe House Ldn
Safe House Ldn was created by long-standing Hackney resident Bisola Popoola after witnessing issues that troubled her local area. Ranging from gang activity to the lack of resources for local community residents.

Through Safe House, Bis has worked on creating interactive workshops, events and panel talks for young people. From hosting guest speakers like musician @nathaniel_shalom, a Christmas Present Drive where young people could drop-in, collect a gift and enjoy the spirit of Christmas, to panel talks with musician @therealghetts and Film Director @ashleighjadeeee. While also organising bike rides around London encouraging exercise and healthy eating with social enterprise, @my_choice_info.
After I joined Safe House early 2019 and saw the positive impact Bis had already created within her local community, I really wanted to shine a light on it. Using our next ATIKA Art Attack to fundraise for Safe House Ldn seemed ideal. I sat down with Bis (who has now become one of my closest friends) for our next series of Conversations by ATIKA to discuss statistics, Bisola’s background, the effect in her local area and our future plans for Safe House Ldn!
